		Shamanistic Gesture
		2003, woven saplings, 300’ l 75’w 4’h Arte Sella, International Biennale Exhibition of Contemporary Art, Borgo Valsugana, Trento, Italy
		Bombs dropped during World War I disfigured this landscape. To heal the earth, structures fashioned from saplings covered the craters, and grassy islands emerged. The creation of Shamanistic Gestures was as much a spiritual act as a sculptural object. Rather than using nature for art, art became nature.
