    1999, orchard, stones, 4-8'h 300'w 300'l
For the 4th International Environment Art Symposium, '99 Nine DragonHeads- Korea
This piece was created in response to a failed orchard on an ill suited, steep and rocky slope at the 'Human Nature' symposium in Gaya, Korea. I placed as many rocks as possible in each of the dead trees with in the orchard. This balancing act was initially intended to illustrate the difficulty humans face when manipulating the natural landscape. I later learned that the contemporary shaman people of Korea believe that placing a stone in a tree crotch will result in reaping many fruits. Unbeknownst to me at the time, the 'fruits' produced have a sexual connotation.
