The interior space is covered knee deep with pine needles. At the center is an 'altar' with cut stones suggesting an offering. At the outer edge of the circle stands guardian like figures each of which has a corresponding 'ancestral' stone illuminated by candles. The circumference of the circle is lined with charred cedar shards. The dim flickering candle light along with the smell of fire and pine created a hushed, mystical environment. This installation jars our collective primeval memory, providing a connection to forgotten ancient rituals.
